Alicia Miller, Executive Director at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center | środa, 08. lipiec 2020

The Imperial River Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) will present Alicia Miller, Executive Director at southwest Florida’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center, Wednesday July 8th from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM via Zoom. This professional development webinar is free, with donations to ABWA encouraged. Registration and Zoom account are required; see ABWAImperialRiver.Eventbrite.com for details.

Alicia Miller served as Director of Scholarships for Lee County Public schools before joining the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center (DHHC) as their Executive Director in July of 2017. She holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Florida. She has studied ASL (American Sign Language) and visited Gallaudet University to experience an all-deaf learning environment. Miller’s primary role at DHHC is to provide leadership for the organization while executing its mission: the empowerment of Southwest Florida’s deaf and hard of hearing community and their families. The mission is carried out through education, advocacy, and community involvement. DHHC offers ASL classes levels 1 though 6 for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing audiences. Other services include interpreters and Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) testing.

The American Business Women’s Association Imperial River Chapter was launched April 13th, 2016 specifically to serve the women of Estero and Bonita Springs, FL. At that time, other chapters existed in Southwest Florida, but none were convenient to the business women of the area in between Fort Myers and Naples. ABWA Imperial River Chapter supports the national organization’s mission: to bring together business women of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition. Our chapter raises funds to help reimburse our membership, comprised of local business women, for conferences, seminars, continuing education credits and other professional development pursuits.
